Vance Scholarship Fund
The Vance Scholarship Fund was established in December of 1989 with the initial distribution of funds from the Glennis Vance Estate. Glennis Vance left the money to the Rolla Lions Club to create a scholarship fund to honor her husband, Jesse Vance. Jesse Vance was a member of the Rolla Lions Club and its President during 1952-53.
Applicants must be Phelps County Missouri residents attending a Phelps County Public High School, the Rolla Technical Institute, or the Rolla Technical Center with plans to attend a public Missouri college or university or the Rolla Technical Institute to be considered for these scholarships. Scholarship holders may apply for a year by year extension of their scholarships. Family members of Rolla Lions Club Members are not eligible to receive this scholarship.
To date the Rolla Lions Club has awarded $196,500 in scholarships from this fund.
Judith Southern Scholarship Fund
The Judith Southern Scholarship Fund was established in 2011 by Lion Merle Southern in memory of his wife Judith who was a Nurse. The scholarship is specifically designated to assist a student in obtaining a degree in nursing. Family members of Rolla Lions Club Members are not eligible to receive this scholarship.
To date we have awarded $7,000 in scholarships from this fund.
Kinyon/Lions Helping Lions Scholarship Fund
In 2006 Lion Pete Kinyon donated money to establish the Kinyon/Lions Helping Lions Scholarship fund. This scholarship was specifically earmarked to assist children, step children, adopted children, or grand children of Rolla Lions Club Members, who are not eligible to receive the Vance & Southern Scholarships.
